Happy Tail: Suzy

Julia D Happy Tails

Suzy was adopted by a very loving family. This is their story in their own words…

Suzy

One year from the loss of our schnauzer, we decided it was time to bring a new pet into our lives.  I did several searches on the Internet and found Last Hope Animal Rescue.  When I clicked on “miniature schnauzer,” Suzy’s picture came onto the screen.  She was part miniature schnauzer and part miniature poodle.   She was noted as being a lap dog which seemed a perfect fit since we are both retired.  We made a request to meet her and an appointment was set.  We fell in love with her immediately and knew we did not need to look any further.  We anxiously awaited to see if we would be selected to become her new family.

The process was involved with Last Hope Adoption checking all our references and doing a home visit.  At least we knew we were working with an agency that was really looking out for the best interest of their pets.  Of course we were very excited to get her home and with it being the holidays, it took a little longer.  But, the wait was well worth it!

Our pup’s name was Suzy and she had been named that by her previous owner who was no longer was able to care for her.  Therefore, we were content not to change it since she was already 7 years old and her life had already had a big change.

Suzy adjusted quickly to her new home.  She took to her new routine as if it had always been that way.  She really loves people and lives up to her name as being a lap dog.  The instant one sits down, Suzy is on your lap.  We actually call her our therapy dog as she will place her paws on your chest and lay her head on your shoulder.  She seems to know who needs the “special attention” for the day.
Suzy 2
Suzy loves to go with us on walks sniffing every message along the route.  The instant you mention “road trip” she is at the door ready to go.  Another great past time for her is to sit on her cushion and watch all the activity outside.  Suzy has brought so much joy to our lives we are forever grateful to Last Hope Animal Rescue for bringing her into our lives.  Thank you.

Dog of the Week: Rommel

Julia D Dog of the Week

Rommel

Hi, my name is Rommel, the gentle giant. I’m sure people are a bit leery of me because of my size, but spend some time with me and you will quickly see that I am a sweet loving boy. I love to snuggle up to people while they scratch my ears or rub my belly; I have even been known to try to sit on people’s laps if they are giving me some good scratches. I am not a fan of cats, so I can’t go to home with cats. But I am very smart boy; I know how to sit, shake, and lay down, and for some treats I would be willing to learn so much more.  So if you are a true believer in “size does not matter”  and are looking for a smart, affectionate, loving companion, then I am the dog for you.

George

Hi, my name is George. I got this name because of how curious I am. I love everyone and am super friendly and outgoing. I get along great with other cats, dogs and kids. The humans that take care of me say I am such an all around great guy I would be happy in any home that loves me. I have spent the past three years with my friend Nelly. We are best friends and need to stay together. So, if you need to leave and go to work you will never have to feel bad about leaving me because Nelly and I will just snuggle and take care of each other.  My adoption fee is only $40 and that includes me being neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Nelly

Hi, my name is Nelly. The kind people at Cedar Run found me and saved me from living outdoors. This is where I met my best friend George. He is really friendly and outgoing. I am more reserved but with a little time I become friends with anyone. George and I would make a great addition to any loving home. You won’t get a pair sweeter than us.  My adoption fee is only $40 and that includes me being spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Hi, my name is Sprout. I am about a year old now. I came to Last Hope when a loving volunteer found me as a stray in the woods when I was a baby. I like to run around and play but I am also happy to relax with my humans for nice cuddles. I am outgoing and friendly with everyone I meet. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and micro chipped. Hi, my name is Pearl. I am a gray ten year old lady. My previous owner passed away and I was left without anyone to care for me. This was sad for me, but Last Hope has given me a place to stay while I wait for another home. I have done really well adapting to my new surroundings and all the other kitties I live with. I enjoy lounging on a blanket and watching the kittens play. I am independent and take good care of myself, and I really enjoy companionship and having someone to hold and pet me. If you are looking for a cat that will require minimal effort to care for but give you lots of love and joy, I am for you! I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, and micro chipped. My adoption donation is only $25.

If you’re interested in Pearl, please email adoptions@adopthope.org or complete an application HERE.

Cat of the Week: Annie

Julia D Cat of the Week

Annie

Annie came to us with 26 other cats and kittens. She was days away from giving birth to her own litter. Unfortunately,  with that many cats coming in from one home, we ran out of foster homes quickly and Annie gave birth to her 4 kittens at our newly opened Adoption Center. Fortunately we were able to find another rescue to take in Annie and her kittens where she was able to raise them in an environment more conducive to raising a family.
As Annie’s kittens reached adoption age they all found homes of their own. Meanwhile Annie waited at Kitty City for her new family. Recently Kitty City lost their building and had to relocate many of their cats. Annie made her way back to Last Hope and into a foster home.
Annie 3
Annie is a sweet cat. Likes to play with toys and doesn’t really mind dogs or other cats. Give her a couple weeks to get to know you and you have a friend for life! If you’d like more information about Annie, please email adoptions@adopthope.org or complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Casanova

Julia D Dog of the Week

Casanova

Casanova is certainly a lover. He is a 40 lb lap dog that does not take “no” for an answer when it comes to affection. He is not above begging for head scratching, belly rubbing or face kissing. He absolutely loves people and wants to be with them. He plays well with female and submissive males but he is so needy for attention that he will go after a another male dog that he thinks is more bossy than he is. He is a jealous young man and not afraid to show it. We suggest he goes to a home with no other male dogs, big or small.

His potty training is about 90 percent and he is trying very hard. He is kennel trained and sits in it quietly when he has to be left home. He likes to have a chew toy in with him to keep him busy. He loves treats, but wants human interaction even more. He is good with kids and not food aggressive or toy aggressive with kids. He lives with cats and has not done anything more than chase them a bit. He is a bit over curious about them so he is not left unattended with cats for his safety and theirs. Make no mistake about this boy, he is a bed cuddler, a couch cuddler and a lap dog. Plan on watching TV through his head if you try to ignore him.

Casanova 2

He is pretty high energy during playtime and he will keep kids or an active adult busy. He takes a few days to settle in but once he does, he is good about sleeping at night and just being content and hanging out with the family. All of our pets need to be kept as indoor pets and we do require a home visit as part of the adoption process. Landlord (if applicable), vet and personal references will be called.  The adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.

If you’re interested in Casanova, email adoptions@adopthope.org or complete an application HERE.
