Dog of the Week: Duke Brown

Julia D Dog of the Week

Duke Brown

Hi, I am Duke Brown! I am about a 2-year-old English Bulldog and I am looking for a foster or forever home.  I am not a fan of things that “meow” and I really like to have my humans all to myself, so I would like to be the only dog in your house.  I already know some people words like “sit”, “down” and “shake” and I can learn so many more!  I will do anything for a treat!  And just look at my squishy face! I am adorable! Well that’s what everyone tells me!

Cat of the Week: Jax

Julia D Cat of the Week

Jax

This little snuggle monster is quite the purr machine too. Like all kittens, Jax loves to find a way to be as tall as he can. He loves climbing and chasing and playing and especially eating. He’s always looking for a good snack. Jax currently is in a foster home with adult cats, dogs (small and large), kids (5 and 11), and adults. He took a few days to be completely comfortable with everybody, but he now loves to play with the dogs, cats, and definitely the kids. Jax also does well on car rides. Jax was a transfer to Last Hope from a rescue in a neighboring county. They were overwhelmed with kittens and we had the available fosters. Jax is approximately 15 to 16 weeks old, current on his Distemper and Rabies vaccines, is neutered, and microchipped.

If you’re interested in learning more about Jax, please email adoptions@adopthope.org or complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Abby

Julia D Dog of the Week

Abby

My name is Abby and I am a 1 year old female boxer mix. I am very friendly with every person and dog I meet (a little shy with my foster dad) I love my 8 year old foster brother. We play for hours! I am 100% puppy and I need to be taught how to become a great adult dog. I am doing really well on my potty training. I love to chew. I have pulled out a few slippers and shoes but they quickly get switched out for a rope toy and that is okay with me.

I kennel well; I sleep all night without a peep. I do get very curious if I am left outside too long and I jump the fence. I don’t go anywhere, I actually try to get back into the backyard. My foster mom yells my name and I come running !! I heard her saying that I am part greyhound because I run super fast. I am really looking forward to meeting my furever family. Please set up a meet and greet with me!!

Cat of the Week: Idgie

Julia D Cat of the Week

Idgie

There’s something truly special about Idgie, besides the fact that he has perfect house manners, fur as soft as a baby chinchilla’s, is perfectly gentle when playing and has a “come what may” personality, there’s more to him than that.  Maybe it’s his wise-beyond-his-years personality, maybe it’s his confident presence or it could just be his laid back approach to life.  Whatever it may be, he is one remarkable kitten.

Idgie’s beginnings are unknown.  All that is known is that he was hanging out at a church for several days until he followed a woman home where her dog made it clear that he wasn’t welcome.  That didn’t discourage him though, he still tried to get inside, away from the bitter cold.  Bless the woman who called us to pick him up because she must have sensed that there was something wonderful about him too and that he deserved more than what life was offering him at the time.

After he arrived at his foster home, it was apparent that he was once a house cat, that he once had a home to shelter him and a person to feed him.  He was already litter box trained, already knew to stay off the counters and already knew how to show his appreciation for those who were caring for him. When you adopt Idgie, you will not be just adopting a kitten, you will be adopting something far more special than words can describe.

Happy Tail: Suzy

Julia D Happy Tails

Suzy was adopted by a very loving family. This is their story in their own words…

Suzy

One year from the loss of our schnauzer, we decided it was time to bring a new pet into our lives.  I did several searches on the Internet and found Last Hope Animal Rescue.  When I clicked on “miniature schnauzer,” Suzy’s picture came onto the screen.  She was part miniature schnauzer and part miniature poodle.   She was noted as being a lap dog which seemed a perfect fit since we are both retired.  We made a request to meet her and an appointment was set.  We fell in love with her immediately and knew we did not need to look any further.  We anxiously awaited to see if we would be selected to become her new family.
Suzy 3
The process was involved with Last Hope Adoption checking all our references and doing a home visit.  At least we knew we were working with an agency that was really looking out for the best interest of their pets.  Of course we were very excited to get her home and with it being the holidays, it took a little longer.  But, the wait was well worth it!

Our pup’s name was Suzy and she had been named that by her previous owner who was no longer was able to care for her.  Therefore, we were content not to change it since she was already 7 years old and her life had already had a big change.
Suzy 4
Suzy adjusted quickly to her new home.  She took to her new routine as if it had always been that way.  She really loves people and lives up to her name as being a lap dog.  The instant one sits down, Suzy is on your lap.  We actually call her our therapy dog as she will place her paws on your chest and lay her head on your shoulder.  She seems to know who needs the “special attention” for the day.
Suzy 2
Suzy loves to go with us on walks sniffing every message along the route.  The instant you mention “road trip” she is at the door ready to go.  Another great past time for her is to sit on her cushion and watch all the activity outside.  Suzy has brought so much joy to our lives we are forever grateful to Last Hope Animal Rescue for bringing her into our lives.  Thank you.

Dog of the Week: Rommel

Julia D Dog of the Week

Rommel

Hi, my name is Rommel, the gentle giant. I’m sure people are a bit leery of me because of my size, but spend some time with me and you will quickly see that I am a sweet loving boy. I love to snuggle up to people while they scratch my ears or rub my belly; I have even been known to try to sit on people’s laps if they are giving me some good scratches. I am not a fan of cats, so I can’t go to home with cats. But I am very smart boy; I know how to sit, shake, and lay down, and for some treats I would be willing to learn so much more.  So if you are a true believer in “size does not matter”  and are looking for a smart, affectionate, loving companion, then I am the dog for you.

If you’re interested in Rommel, please email adoptions@adopthope.org or complete an application HERE.

Cats of the Week: George and Nelly

Julia D Cat of the Week

George

Hi, my name is George. I got this name because of how curious I am. I love everyone and am super friendly and outgoing. I get along great with other cats, dogs and kids. The humans that take care of me say I am such an all around great guy I would be happy in any home that loves me. I have spent the past three years with my friend Nelly. We are best friends and need to stay together. So, if you need to leave and go to work you will never have to feel bad about leaving me because Nelly and I will just snuggle and take care of each other.  My adoption fee is only $40 and that includes me being neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Nelly

Hi, my name is Nelly. The kind people at Cedar Run found me and saved me from living outdoors. This is where I met my best friend George. He is really friendly and outgoing. I am more reserved but with a little time I become friends with anyone. George and I would make a great addition to any loving home. You won’t get a pair sweeter than us.  My adoption fee is only $40 and that includes me being spayed, vaccinated and micro chipped.
