Happy Tail: Diesel

Julia D Happy Tails

Ashley was looking online for a dog to adopt and was impressed with how different Last Hope was from the other rescues and shelters. She saw Diesel’s face and fell in love instantly. But it was his bio that really convinced her Diesel was the dog for their family. At the time, Diesel was going through some medical issues so they did a foster-to-adopt arrangement. But Ashley says he was *their* dog from day one.

In the beginning, Diesel was a little shy but he quickly came out of his shell once he moved in with Ashley, Seth, and their dog, Gypsy. He now likes to meet new people and loves being the center of attention. He helped Gypsy become a more confident dog, too. Gypsy used to not be interested in jumping up on furniture, walking on wood floors, or playing with toys. But once Diesel came into the family, he helped Gypsy become more confident and strong-willed.

He loves going for walks, playing ball, playing with his sister in the backyard, and playing with his many, many toys – especially going after the ones with squeakers in them! He loves dressing up in sweaters, hoodies, and coats but most of all he loves cuddling with his mom and dad.

About Diesel, Ashley says, “Diesel has changed my life completely, I could not imagine my life without him. He is the sweetest boy full of energy and love. I am grateful that he had so much love and support from Last Hope and that we were blessed with the opportunity to adopt him. This is his forever home!”

It sounds like Diesel landed in the perfect place. Thank you Ashley, Seth, and Gypsy for opening your hearts and home to Diesel!

Dog of the Week: Alvin

Julia D Dog of the Week

My name is Alvin. I may look tough, but I am a really sweet boy. If you are looking for a buddy to snuggle on the couch with, I am your guy. I also like to play with squeaky toys and soccer balls. I came from Arkansas where I had a rough start and I sometimes am selective of my dog friends. After a proper introduction with new dogs though I love to play with them.
Not to brag, but I am really smart! I have completed obedience 1 class. I am very food motivated, so if you want to teach me even more it won’t be hard. I am also kennel trained and have learned how to walk with a gentle leader so I don’t pull so much. I do not like cats and would like to have kids over 12 since I can play a little rough. I wouldn’t mind being the only dog so I can get lots of love and attention, but I would also be happy with another doggy friend as long as we are a good fit.
Alvin’s adoption fee is $250 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
If you think this great guy might be a good fit for your home, please complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Addie

Julia D Dog of the Week

Addie is a black lab/hound mix with some of the best floppy ears in the business! She’s around 7 years old and looking for a moderately active home that will enjoy daily walks with her and provide her a nice soft dog bed to curl up and snooze in. Addie does fine with other dogs but will be best suited in a forever home as an only dog or with another very laid back smaller dog. Addie loves nothing more than to go for a good walk, give squirrels hell in the back yard and go for car rides with the windows down. Addie is not a cuddler, but she is a very loving dog that wants to please her “person” and will make a wonderful companion in a home with adults only. Don’t pass this sweet lady by, take a chance on meeting a faithful and friendly forever friend.

Addie’s adoption fee is $250 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Cats of the Week: Charlotte and Edward

Julia D Cat of the Week

Charlotte and Edward are siblings and would love to stay together when they go to their forever home.

Princess Charlotte LOVES to romp and play with her brother Edward! She would love to find a home where they can stay together. She’s a sweet little lady with lots of personality. She does have some scar tissue on her eyes from a prior infection but she can see just fine and it doesn’t slow her down a bit!

Edward loves playtime with his sister Charlotte! The mice and balls in the house better watch out – this expert hunter is out to get them. He would love to find a home he can share with his little sister- his partner in crime!

These two cuties are currently at the PetSmart in Coralville so you can meet them there.

If you’re interested in adopting these two, please complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Kallie

Julia D Dog of the Week

Curious, Adventurous, Athletic, and Outgoing…meet Kallie!  Kallie loves the water, heading to the park and exploring in the tall grass and then rolling around in the backseat of the car on the way home.  This super-smart young female already knows sit, lay, and down and will be a wonderful companion for an outdoorsy-athletic type! She prefers the company of people over dogs and is not a fit with cats or other small animals.

Kallie’s adoption fee is $250 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Cat of the Week: Tuffy

Julia D Cat of the Week

Tuffy… A sweet orange Tabby & white boy who we suspect has had a tough life, yet this sweet soul wants nothing more than to be loved on, petted, and treated with kindness – for which he will reward you with the most endearing, rumbling purr that will just grab your heart! He is about 6 years old and was found by a kind cat-loving person in an area of Cedar Falls which for some reason is a prime area for people to abandon their animals.

Since being rescued, we have found out he is very sweet with both cats & DOGS!  Perhaps he also had feline and canine friends in his past life, but with proper introduction, we feel this boy will be a great match for just about any family!!  What more could you ask for!?

This cutie’s adoption fee is $85 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, and a microchip with lifetime registration.

If you’re interested in meeting Tuffy, please complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Lucy (Lulu)

Julia D Dog of the Week

Lucy, or Lulu as we lovingly call her, is just about as sweet as they come! She loves people of all ages, and no one she meets stays a stranger for long. She is a wiggly lover, she rides like a champ in the car and she loves nothing more than a good belly rub.   Lulu is looking for a home to call her very own, she is best suited as the only animal in the house, and she’s sure you’ll agree she has more than enough love to go around! Lulu has mild allergies, an allergy test has been done and a proper diet will keep her system in check. She is otherwise healthy, happy and ready to go for walks and snuggle on the couch with you!

Lucy’s adoption fee is $250 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Lucy’s a great girl – if you’d like to meet her, please complete an application HERE.

Dog of the Week: Damon

Julia D Dog of the Week

Meet Damon. He is a 12-1/2 year old Husky looking for his forever home. Other than allergies, he is in great health and loves to go for walks. He can also be a big couch potato if that’s what you choose to do for the day.  Damon knows sit, lay down, shake and can even give high fives. His best talent though is his singing. Have you ever heard a Husky sing? It’s entertaining and will make you smile.

Damon does great with people but will need to be the only dog. We are looking for a dog-savvy person that is familiar with his breed and will have time to spend with him. Damon is not destructive and can be left loose when his people are gone. He might sleep with you if he decides that he needs to cuddle.

Damon’s adoption fee is $200 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

If you’d like to meet this great guy, please complete an application HERE.
