Dog of the Week: Cubby

Calling all husky lovers! Cubby is a home run of a dog, he is sweet and friendly with people, loves car rides and will make a great companion for someone active and familiar with his breed.

He is believed to be a husky/malamute mixed with some cattle dog so he does have moderate to high grooming needs.  Cubby can be dog selective, he has not paired well with other males and has only been friendly with another female husky.  Cubby is eager to learn manners and commands, although he is an adult dog he will need some help learning his new routine and settling into his forever home.  His adoption fee includes a basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha, we think this will be a great fit for Cubby and his new owner to bond and learn from each other! Cubby is not a fit for apartment living, he also needs to be in a home with older children who are dog savvy.  Cubby has met cats very briefly and seemed to ignore them, but we can’t say for certain how he would do with them long-term and he has never been around a cat on the move – a prey drive might very easily kick in then!

Cubby’s adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
