Last Hope Animal Rescue was founded in 2004 by a group of likeminded and caring individuals who saw the need to form a collective that could help local animals in need. We have evolved in many ways in our 20 years as a rescue organization, and are proud to serve the needs of animals in Eastern Iowa! We are a 100% volunteer run organization and receive no state or federal funding. Last Hope relies on the generosity of our donors and supporters to continue our life-saving work!
In 2015, with the help of a capital campaign, Last Hope purchased a commercial property in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to grow our footprint and capacity to offer urgent care for those animals most in need. Our adoption center serves as an intake facility for animals who may need medical or behavioral care before moving into foster or forever homes.
The Last Hope adoption center is not a shelter open to the public, but serves as a central location for our volunteers. Last Hope Animal Rescue is a foster home-based rescue, so many of our adoptable pets are in loving foster homes!
