Volunteers of the Month: John and Linda Pisney

Julia D Volunteer of the Month

John and Linda Pisney are invaluable resources at the Adoption Center. Both do so much and work so hard so that the pets can have a healthy, happy home while they wait for forever homes. Here is more about them in Linda’s words:

“John and I started volunteering at Last Hope around the end of 2015, shortly after I retired.

A short time before I retired, we heard on the local news that Last Hope was moving into their new location on 16th Avenue. When they had their opening, we were able to do a walk-through of the building. After that walk-through, I knew that is where I wanted to spend my time and it was something John and I could do together. We have been volunteering with Last Hope since then although we did take a break during the pandemic.

I like to go over a couple of mornings a week and help the gals with their dog shifts. Some of the duties

Little Bit

include laundry, cleaning kennels, rotating some of the dogs outside, and washing dishes. When the weather is good, I get my exercise by walking the dogs. The dogs really love the attention and I love giving them attention. Spending time and being involved with dogs at the Center is very rewarding to me. I always leave with a full heart and a smile on my face.

John keeps himself busy with handyman projects at Last Hope. Some of the projects include:

Painting the laundry room

Building shelving units for the food storage area

Adding a plastic material to the doors in the cat and dog suites

Putting together the new Kuranda beds for the dogs that reside at the Adoption Center

Hauling the cardboard and recyclables to the landfill

Mounting brackets to store 8-foot light bulbs

Last Hope has always been our happy place!!

We enjoy doing what we can to help out with the comfort of the animals that reside at the Center until they get their forever homes.”

Thank you John and Linda for all you do!
