Volunteer of the Month: Janell Green
Janell Green has been with Last Hope since July and has already made quite a difference. She comes in for cat care twice a week and walks dogs with her husband on Sundays. Cat care involves cleaning kennels, giving food, medicating if necessary, and helping get them or keep them socialized. She recently started fostering a cat, Litty Kitty that is showing her personality more and more every day.
She says she likes to give the cats “all the loves I can” and she enjoys walking the dogs because it’s great to see their individual personalities and help some of them come out of their shells.
We got Janell as a volunteer by a fluke. She was driving down 16th St. and saw the sign outside the Adoption Center. She went home and looked up our website and decided to apply to be a volunteer.
“I enjoy volunteering because I love being around animals and helping them in any way possible. I have a background in animal care and pharmacy so caring for them is in my DNA!”
Janell and her husband moved to Cedar Rapids 3 1/2 years ago and they have four cats of their own: Nikita (13), Koa Nathaniel (8), JoJo Bear (8), and Raven Moon (7).
We are lucky Janell saw our sign and followed up on the internet! She is dedicated and dependable and we’d love to clone her. Thank you, Janell, for all you do.
