Dog of the Week: Cash

Julia D Dog of the Week

Cash is a 7-8-month-old, neutered male.  Our best guess on his breed mix is some Aussie Shepherd and possibly lab mix.  One thing is for sure, he’s handsome and playful! Cash came into rescue with “duck feet.” Our veterinarians have looked him over and see no real long-term concerns for this.  It’s believed that his muscles underdeveloped as a younger puppy due to inactivity, perhaps he spent too much time confined to a kennel. Cash lives in a foster home with other large breed dogs, he is playful and learning to be affectionate with people. He is timid, especially with new people, but once he warms up he is super sweet and food motivated so will be an eager learner with new training.  Cash is mostly potty trained, he has never met children so would be best with elementary-aged or older. Cash loves to get outside and go for walks, with a fenced-in yard it must be secure or he will find escape routes to get out and explore the neighborhood (including digging his way out!).  Cash also has cats in his foster home, he does like to chase and try and nibble them.  He is not a fit in a home as the only dog with cats, he would need a canine companion to keep him preoccupied and to give the cats some peace.  Cash will need a home with another medium to large, confident and playful dog. Cash is only available for adoption within 50 miles of Cedar Rapids, Iowa at this time.

Cash’s adoption fee is $300 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
