Dog of the Week: Mr. Jones (aka Jonesy)

“Mr. Jones and me we’re gonna be big stars” goes the song by Counting Crows and that is what this dog wants to be, your star. Mr. Jones (Jonesy) is a three-year-old, 20 lbs., fixed male. He’s a terrier mix with a moderate energy level. He has had no accidents at his foster home and will signal to be let out. Jonesy knows sit and down and his vocabulary includes “treat,” “dinner,” and “out.” He is working on shake and beg. He is very happy sitting with his people and being petted.

He gets very excited for rides and walks.  The saddest part of Mr. Jones’s day is when he has to go to the kennel for the night. Jonesy would prefer to be in bed with his future family. Mr. Jones is looking for an adult family where he can be the only dog. He is dog reactive and care will need to be taken when he is around other animals. Jonesy is cautious around new people and experiences and may growl when he is nervous. High levels of excitement may also cause him to growl and/or snap at other animals. We are looking for a placement without children that has a stable and predictable environment. This guy wants to be a good dog and will need gentle but consistent training to bring out his best. Is Mr. Jones the star for you?

Mr. Jones’ adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
