Volunteer of the Month: Shannon Cornelius
Shannon began volunteering for Last Hope in 2018 after searching for a rescue for which she could foster dogs. She decided to volunteer at the Adoption Center first and then move on to fostering.
Since she began, Shannon and her family have fostered 11 dogs (one was a foster fail!), she helps with events and intakes, and she likes to take the Center dogs on walks or outings whenever she can.
About her volunteer experience, Shannon says, ” I have become passionate about my work with Last Hope and the rescue in general. I will talk about Last Hope and my doggy friends to anyone who shows interest for as long as they will listen. Lol! I love seeing dogs come out of their shell and grow in their time with us, and there is nothing better than a dog recognizing you and being excited to see you and play or cuddle with you (except seeing them go to a perfect forever home). I have also developed fond relationships with two-legged friends at the rescue. My work with Last Hope is definitely a bright spot in my life.”
In addition to Pepper, the dog that was a foster fail, Shannon and her family have two cats (Lynx and Alex), and a Guinea pig named Mango.
Shannon is very dedicated and dependable and we are lucky to have her as a volunteer!
