Volunteers of the Month: Cheryl and John Ferguson

Julia D Volunteer of the Month

It all started in 2018 when John and Cheryl Ferguson acted as fosters for two pups named Harry and Meghan (named in honor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding). Since then they have fostered a total of nine dogs for Last Hope. They are willing to take on dogs that may not be familiar with being in a home as a pet or have other challenges. Under their care, the dogs learn about life in a home and work on any issues they may have.

They also help with home visits and help arrange adoptions. Last year they volunteered to take dogs out for Valentine’s Day visits to people in the community. And this past Halloween they helped out at the fundraising event at Big Grove Brewery.

When asked why they like volunteering for Last Hope they said, “We enjoy watching the dogs who come to us find their homes forever. Some of the dogs who come from the street or the pound who have issues with people or no experience being a pet, learn to trust people and develop into wonderful animals under our care. That is extremely rewarding.”

“We are proud to be part of this hard-working team. It is amazing the amount of time and effort the leadership devotes to saving innocent dogs and cats. They are the heart and soul of Last Home Animal Rescue.”

We rely heavily on our foster families to get the dogs and cats ready for adoption and help them through that process. Cheryl and John are wonderful fosters and we depend on them a great deal. We couldn’t save the lives we do without people like them!
