Happy Tail: Matilda

Corena’s son found Last Hope when she was ready for a cat. She had lost her cat of 16 years a while back. Corena looked at pictures of all the available cats and found one she liked: Matilda.

She completed the application and waited for a short time. An email came stating she had been approved and setting up a meet and greet.

When Corena got there, Matilda was completely scared. She spent most of the time either sitting in the cat room window that looked over the reception area or under furniture. She would not let Corena pet her. Many people would have given up on Matilda but Corena knew she was special and took her home.

She hid for a while when she first came home but she loved Jeremy! She is a character; plays games with herself and comes running when they get home. And she loves to steal toys from Corena’s grandson.

It’s been a few years and Corena now reports that everything is great! Matilda is no longer the scared, hiding, “don’t touch me” cat that she was when she first came home. She is a lap kitty who has to sleep with them. Matilda follows them around and loves to lie by the window. Corena said bringing her home was the best decision she ever made.

Sometimes the most scared and skittish kitties turn into the most loving cats with a little time and patience. Who knows what would have happened to Matilda if Corena hadn’t seen a diamond in the rough in her. Now they share a wonderful home together and Matilda is a very affectionate cat.
