Happy Tail: Ava
Deb volunteered at Last Hope in 2019 and met Ava after one of her shifts. It was instant love when Ava ran up to her and sat waiting for pets (and a treat, of course!). She was the ONLY dog at the Adoption Center that didn’t bark when she got there. Ava just sat patiently and waited until Deb let her out. Deb fell in love with her big, beautiful face and sweet demeanor. They arranged for Ava to meet Deb’s husband and son. They all agreed so they began the adoption process. Although Deb volunteered at Last Hope, they respected that we still wanted them to go through the usual adoption process to make sure their home was right for Ava. According to Deb, the process was flawless.
They decided not to change her name because Ava suited her well. They did add a middle name, though so now she is known as Ava Marie.
The first night in her new home Ava was pretty nervous and pooped in the bedroom (hey, it happens to the best of us, right?!). But since then she’s adjusted well and is very attached to the family. She brings Ken and Deb so much joy and she is one spoiled princess!
Ava is very chill and smart and she gets a lot of attention when she is out and about with the family. Before her “Gotcha Day” she had kind of a rough life and doesn’t really get along so well with other dogs. But she loves all people. She looks intimidating because of her size but is truly a gentle giant with everyone. She also has her own language that Ken and Deb have become familiar with. She lets them know when she wants to eat, go outside, go for walks, and snuggle. Ava isn’t really much of a fan of playing. She will roughhouse with her dad on occasion but primarily she just wants to hang out with them.
It sounds like all of them hit the jackpot when Deb met Ava that day at the Adoption Center. We are so glad she found a soft place to land and that she loves her family as much as they love her. Happy life, Ava!
