Dog of the Week: Porter

Julia D Dog of the Week

Porter is such a wonderfully easy-going dog, we just cannot believe that someone hasn’t scooped him up yet! He is not a fan of being left alone for long stretches and he also kind of hates the kennel – but we certainly understand why when you know his past…Porter joined Last Hope after his owner abandoned him, leaving him behind when they moved away.  This wonderfully loving boy deserves the very best in a forever home, and we’re excited to introduce you to him! But beware…he’s a bit of a couch hog!! Porter loves to put a harness on and go for walks, he can be strong on the leash especially when he sees squirrels!  He is best suited as the only pet in the home but is great with people of all ages including children. Porter is around 8 years old now, he would do best with a fence or with someone who already has a daily walking routine. Porter rides in the car like a champ, and he will make a wonderful companion for someone seeking a friendly dog that is moderately active. Porter does have minor head tremors, these occur infrequently and seem to be brought on by change or stress. They do not hurt him or cause him pain, but are something to be aware of (he has been under the care of our veterinarian and had this reviewed extensively).

Porter’s adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

If this laid back dog might fit into your home and you’d like to meet him, please complete an adoption application HERE.
