Dog of the Week: Oscar

Julia D Dog of the Week

Oscar is a nearly two-year-old dog who came to Last Hope shy and timid, but he has really flourished and loves being with his people. He is always giving you hugs and kisses. He loves playing with other dogs but has not been around any cats. Oscar always wants to be by your side, whether in your bed, on the couch, or lying in the same room. He is very playful (ball and rope) but is still getting used to quick movements and loud noises. He is getting used to car rides and will jump in the car on his own. Once he is in the car he is a little anxious, but that will pass. He loves Scooter’s pup cups. Oscar is on dry dog food and is not food-driven. You can put a bowl of food down and he may not eat it right away. Same with treats; he may eat them right away or hide them for a later snack. Oscar will go in an open kennel but we have had good success leaving him out while we are gone for a few hours at a time. When meeting Oscar, he may seem shy at first but will warm up to you quickly. He is trained to use an underground containment system for the yard. He is currently learning to go on walks (leash training). He loves to be outside and loves his baby pool. Oscar is very smart and will pick up anything you try to teach him very easily. Once you meet Oscar, he will capture your heart.

Oscar’s adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Oscar is such a sweet dog and if you’d like to meet him please complete an adoption application HERE.
