Dog of the Week: Lyric

Julia D Dog of the Week

Lyric is happy, friendly, and easygoing. She does great with everyone — cats, dogs, and kids — however, she will take food away from small children or chew on their toys. A typical Basset hound, Lyric can be stubborn and needs a firm, patient owner. She is very people-oriented so could either be an only dog or part of a pack, but shouldn’t be left alone for long periods of time. Lyric is an active girl who LOVES going for walks and stays busy following her people around — a fenced yard is required so she can run and play safely without getting lost following her nose. Lyric exhibits other typical Basset tendencies, like stealing food, counter surfing, and digging or nesting (more than one dog bed has been destroyed by her sturdy feet and nails already). She tends to inappropriately eat household items – socks, towels, toys, anything paper or cardboard – this can be very dangerous so her new owner will need to be aware of this and know how to mitigate it. Lyric is housebroken and kennel trained. She will keep you laughing with her fun, clownish demeanor. She responds well to patient, consistent obedience training that includes lots of praise and encouragement.  She will make the right person a loving and wonderful companion.

Lyric’s adoption fee is $250 and includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
