Dog of the Week: Alder

Julia D Dog of the Week

X-large and extra handsome…meet Alder! At just over 100 pounds, Alder is hardly a lap dog but don’t tell him that! Once he gets to know you, he’s likely to plop right down on your lap if you get on the floor with him.  Alder has a little work to do yet on his manners, we’re working on how to be respectful of people and dog spaces – he doesn’t have a personal bubble it seems! But, he’s potty trained, super food motivated, and a fast learner! Alder can be selective of where he likes to be touched or petted; we don’t know his full history but we do respect his cues when he lets you know that he doesn’t want his hind end or ears scratched.  Alder does have some inflammation in his ears that we have treated, but this could be an ongoing need for him. He has taken very well to wearing a muzzle and getting a good thorough ear cleaning as needed and this is an important skill for his new owner to keep up on! Alder is seeking a home with no children under the age of 16, no cats, and medium-sized or larger dogs only that are easy-going and non-dominant.

Alder’s adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.
