Cat of the Week: Harry Potter

A former rescue kitty Harry, aka Harry Potter, lost his human unexpectedly and was found injured and wandering the streets in bad shape by a good Samaritan. Harry has made a full recovery, but his former alley-cat lifestyle did leave him with FIV. This otherwise healthy 3-year-old boy is very outgoing and affectionate. He gets along well with other male and female cats (with slow and proper introductions, of course), he is gentle with kids and comfortable around cat-friendly mellow dogs. If you are looking for a big, handsome. green-eyed love-bug to occupy your lap while you telecommute, or keep your feet warm while you sleep, you’d be a terrific human for this sweet boy.

While Harry has FIV, he is a low risk to other cats. FIV is spread primarily through deep bite wounds incurred from territorial fighting. After being neutered, Harry has put his alley-cat days behind him and is content to live a relaxed couch-potato lifestyle. He peacefully coexists with three other adult cats and is usually found napping with his cat friends. Despite his “tough guy” appearance, he backs off easily when bossed around by more dominant cats (especially female cats!). Harry is a real gentleman.

Cats with FIV can live long healthy lives with proper nutrition and routine vet care. He must stay current with preventive vaccines, and because he is more susceptible to infections than the average adult cat, should receive prompt vet attention should he display any signs of illness. He must also be a strictly inside kitty. No exceptions. Harry would be happiest living having a cat companion in his new family but would do OK as a single cat as long as his humans aren’t gone a lot. He is a very social kitty who enjoys the companionship of both humans and cats.

Harry Potter’s adoption fee is $85 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.
