Volunteer of the Month: Crystal Lavin
When Crystal’s last child went off to college, she needed something to fill the hole in her heart. Several of her friends had adopted from Last Hope so she looked into volunteering with us. One of her kids had severe allergies so they weren’t able to have a cat for years so the opportunity to work with the cats at the Adoption Center was a perfect fit.
In addition to caring for the cats at the Adoption Center, Crystal has done some fostering of medically needy cats and helped out at events like Barks & Brew.
“I enjoy my time with the cats and getting to love on them. There is a sense of hopefulness that comes when you see the adoptions and know they are getting a family. I wish I had started volunteering earlier and hope others will realize how much you get back from being a volunteer.”
The kitties, and Last Hope, are thankful that Crystal is such a competent and dedicated volunteer!
