Volunteer of the Month: Aleah Longner

Aleah started volunteering for Last Hope in 2017, signing up for a couple of cat care shifts a week. Those shifts involved giving food and water, cleaning litter boxes, washing bowls, administering medication, socializing with the cats, etc. From there she also helped with writing the online profiles for the cats, updating medical files, working at open houses, assisting with adoptions and home visits, and some transports to the vet for medical care.

As if all that wasn’t enough, she decided she wanted to try her hand at fostering cats while they were waiting for their forever homes. She started helping out with the applications for the cats, distributing the applications to the foster parents and processors who would work on the applications, and setting up meetings at the Adoption Center for applicants.

Aleah is a valued member of the cat team for all the work she does. About volunteering at Last Hope she says, “I have enjoyed volunteering for Last Hope as it’s a great team of people who share the same compassion for animals like myself, working together to help each animal to find their forever homes but also being in each animal’s corner regardless of what the situation is. They put the animals’ needs first and even those that may have medical needs or different circumstances. It has been a pleasure volunteering for Last Hope and assisting the cat adoption team. I have met some of the most amazing kitties there and the team of people are pretty amazing too.”

Thank you for ALL you do, Aleah! The kitties and cat team members really appreciate your hard work and dedication.
