Dog of the Week: Jenny

Julia D Dog of the Week

Hello, I’m Jenny! I am about 4-5 yrs old and a bit on the shy side.  I warm up to humans after a few minutes but can be a little over protective when I get to know you, so my new home should have older kids who are respectful.  I tend to chase cats so no cats at my new home.  I am very smart and love treats so you can teach me lots of new words.  I am a little picky about my doggy friends but might be okay with a submissive male.

Jenny’s adoption fee is $250.00 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, a microchip, and a free obedience class. If you’re interested in Jenny please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Cat of the Week: Cassie

Julia D Cat of the Week

Cassie is a petite, senior girl. She’s currently living at Cedar Run Pet Boarding and Daycare. She’s a sweet girl who enjoys sunning herself in the windows and relaxing in her kitty bed. She does well with the other kitties that come and go. She’s had several Last Hope roommates over the past few months. She would do great with another kitty friend as long as they’re not too much of a bully. Cassie is 11 years old but she still has years to go! She may do best in a quiet home.

Cassie’s adoption fee is $50.00 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, and a microchip. If you’re interested in Cassie please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Dog of the Week: Jerry

Julia D Dog of the Week

Howdy!  I’m Jerry! My foster dad says that I’ve got a spirit like that Rudy kid. … you know, from that movie. … He was a small football player. My foster dad won’t actually tell me the name of the movie just the character, ‘Rudy.’ I don’t think Rudy had a back injury, but the deck was stacked against him and he had grit! He kept on practicing with his whole heart as long as it took. That’s what I do. I’ve got grit. And if I had a few cameras and a social media feed, then I’d be cheered on by the whole world! EVERYONE cheers for an underdog like myself. And it’s been one fight after another for me.

About the time I’d mostly recovered from the accident, I had to move from Texas because some mean guy named Harvey was pushing everyone around. While my back may never fully recover, I’m getting better with moving around. Practice practice practice! I’ve been here long enough I can almost run up the stairs or through the yard like a normal dog. …. sometimes. Other times my nifty back brace helps me out.

For my forever home, I need someone who can give me a lot of attention. Don’t get me wrong, I keep well to myself in my kennel during the day. But when you’re home we’re gonna be a family! Whatever yer doin’, I’ll be there. One more thing you should know. I pride myself on being a good guard dog. Most dogs just watch as a bandit would come in and take your television. Some dogs – grace help them – would even help the bandits carry out your bed. Not me though! I’ll give those bandits ever’thin I got! Side note: You’ll want make sure to introduce all of your friends carefully so I don’t get confused. I take my job very seriously! I look forward to meeting you!

Jerry’s adoption fee is $250.00 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, a microchip, and a free obedience class. If you’re interested in Jerry please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Cat of the Week: Broxton

Julia D Cat of the Week

Hi, my name Broxton, but I answer to Brock.  I came from a hoarding situation with a bunch of other cats and dogs.  Everyone who meets me says I am very sweet and laid back, but I can also be shy.  Sometimes when I am unsure of things I like to find a high place so I can watch and study the situation.   I would love to find a home with one or two other cats or dogs because I do like the company of others if we are properly introduced to each other.  While most cats like to sit on laps I prefer to lay on my foster mama’s chest and shoulders.  When I lay there I can rub my neck or forehead on her chin and get some really wonderful kisses on the top of my head and the more the better.  I can be a little cautious when meeting new humans, but once I get to know them I make friends with them.  I would love to meet you to see if we could be a good match!

Broxton’s adoption fee is $85 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, and a microchip. If you’re interested in Broxton please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Happy Tail: Hope (fka Brownie)

Julia D Happy Tails

A little over a year ago Hope came into Tim’s life. It was about six weeks after he escorted his beloved Puck to the rainbow bridge. He feels the end of Puck’s life occurred when it did so that he could meet and adopt Hope. Tim states that the meet and greet and adoption process went smoothly and the past year has flown by for him and Hope.

Tim isn’t the only one who stole Hope’s heart; Tim’s significant other, Linda is also loved by Hope as is evidenced by uncontrollable tail wagging whenever she comes to visit them!

Hope is extremely affectionate in the morning when the alarm goes off and she knows they’re about to take their first of four walks during the day. When they get back from their morning walk many times she is so happy she runs “hot laps” from the family room couch to the living room couch, squeaking her ball and grinning from ear to ear!

The picture is of Hope on her favorite spot on the porch. This is what Tim says about the adoption, “I am so happy with her and so grateful to LHAR for all they did for her in her rescue process.  We are both looking forward to many years of the special relationship that a rescue and guardian always seem to have.”

Thank you for giving Hope her loving forever home, Tim! Happy life, Hope!

December Volunteer of the Month: Lynn Kennedy

Julia D Volunteer of the Month

Here is what Lynn Kennedy said about her experience volunteering for Last Hope…

My family first heard of Last Hope Animal Rescue when my daughter wanted a rabbit. We knew we wanted a rescue bunny so we found Toby through Last Hope’s website. We quickly fell in love with him and adopted him. We then lost one of our cats and knew we wanted another one to keep our other cat company. We came to an adoption event held at the shelter and found two!  After adopting them I knew I wanted to be involved with Last Hope so I signed up for training and was hooked!

I started volunteering September 11th 2017. Some of the things I have been able to do at Last Hope are cleaning/feeding in the mornings and at night, taken many cats to therapy and vet appointments, helped at open houses, transported cats to Waterloo for open houses, picked up pallets of food for delivery,  and last but not least I have been lucky to foster three amazing cats.
My foster cats are Ethel – who was found in a dumpster and needing some TLC and a quiet place to get well (who is adopted now), Josie who was one of our shelter cats who got sick and needs a quiet room to get better in, and King who was a Critter Crusaders animal either hit by a car or kicked and had two broken hips. He has been with us almost eight weeks and we now plan on adopting him as one of our own cats.
As a stay at home mom I have always volunteered from Vacation Bible School, to high school youth group, to PTA and girl scout leader. So now to have Last Hope and all their animals in my life I feel truly blessed!
We are lucky to have Lynn as a dedicated volunteer! We know we can depend on her to help out where it’s needed.

Dog of the Week: Dinah

Julia D Dog of the Week

Hello I am Dinah! I am about 2 yrs old and a very happy-go-lucky girl! I love every person I meet! I am a little too interested in cats, so I probably shouldn’t have a home with cats.  With a slow introduction, I may get along with other dogs in your home.  I love toys and would love for someone to teach me new things and take me on adventures!

Dinah’s adoption fee is $250.00 which includes spay surgery, being up-to-date on vaccinations, a microchip, and a free obedience class. If you’re interested in Dinah please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Cats of the Week: Hermes and Toothless

Julia D Cat of the Week

Toothless and Hermes have found their way back to rescue after their adopted family had some life changes. Toothless has grown into a very sleek and handsome man. He is now just over 10# of sweetness. He is a very happy camper who likes to watch everything going on. He isn’t much of a cuddler and can be a bit reserved, but he does love to play and be petted. He still is very relaxed about dogs and kids and cats, and the guinea pig is still so very interesting. Toothless can be a bit nervous with new loud noises, but it doesn’t take him to long to relax and come investigate.

Hermes has grown into a very handsome man. He is now almost 13# of sweetness. He is a very happy camper who likes to watch everything going on. He isn’t much of a cuddler, but he does love to play and be petted. They are currently fostered in a home with dogs (small and medium), cats, kids (13 years, 7 years, and 1 year), a husband, and a guinea pig and they all get along great! Toothless and Hermes are all around great guys looking for a great forever home.

If you’re interested in Hermes and Toothless, please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.
