Julia D Dog of the Week

Sturgill reminds us that we don’t deserve dogs…he is a true gem and one family will be so lucky to love him for the rest of their days! Sturgill is seeking a forever home that is active and ready to make new memories with him! He loves going for walks and car rides, he is best suited to a home with no small animals including small dogs and cats. He has done daycare with dogs his size and larger and does great with playful companions! Sturgill is a smart boy that quickly picked up sit, shake, lay down and he’s a whiz with dog toy puzzles. Don’t miss meeting this handsome young man who has a heart of gold and will entertain you with his thousands of facial expressions.

Cats of the Week: Max and Oliver

Julia D Cat of the Week

Max and Oliver are a pair of bonded brothers that are never too far from each other in their foster home.

Max is a bit more reserved than Oliver but they are both still young kitties who love to play.  His favorite pastime is bird watching, (although squirrels and other outdoor activity is quite entertaining) and basking in an open window. He particularly loves catnip, belly rubs, and his favorite toys are sparkly balls.  He is a sweet boy who has the cutest meow.

Oliver is the more inquisitive one of the two and loves playing with toys – for him, everything is a toy!  He is a happy go lucky boy who is always in a happy, goofy mood.  He gives awesome hugs, likes to snuggle, and is very talkative.

We believe Max and Oliver would do best in a home together without other kitties because they tend to rough house with each other and play in a way other cats don’t really appreciate.  These boys are loves and are going to make a special family very happy!

If you think your home would be a good match for these two boys, please complete an application HERE or email adoptions@adopthope.org.

Dogs of the Week: The Fairytale Puppies

Julia D Dog of the Week

Our fairytale litter of puppies includes 3 males and 4 females (one puppy, Sneezy, has an adoption pending). These puppies were born approximately 2-18-19. Their Momma (Snow White) is around 65 pounds and most closely resembles a lab mix. Poppa (Prince Charming) is 50 pounds, very short and stout with a big round head. Poppa may have some Pitbull mix in him, although he does have a longer coat.

Males: Grumpy, Doc, and Dopey (the runt of the litter).  Females: Bashful, Happy, and Sleepy. These puppies are seeking homes with other confident dogs, as they are timid and thrive most with companions.

The adoption fee for these puppies is $300 which includes spay/neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

If you’d like to add a puppy to your family and would like to meet them to pick one out, please complete an application HERE.

Cat of the Week: Ali

Julia D Cat of the Week

People call me Ali, I was an outside cat until it got too cold for me. I was brought to Last Hope with my brother and sister. I’m new to the indoors but I love it. Did you know a cat bed is softer than the cement?! I was told a lot that I look like a mini panther, but I’m a lot nicer. I love scratches and being pet, I will thank you with a lick on your hand. I can live with kids, cats, and even dogs. I can be a little nervous at first but will warm up pretty fast.

Ali’s adoption fee is $85 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, and a microchip with lifetime registration.

Dog of the Week: Stevie

Julia D Dog of the Week

Hi, my name’s Stevie and I’m a puppy with all the best puppy traits you could want! I love to play, snuggle and I’m super smart, too! My foster family has other dogs, they’re pretty cool and have taught me a lot! I would love a forever home with a fenced in yard to explore, someone who will take me to puppy training classes and teach me lots of new things as I grow!

I came to Last Hope as a litter of puppies with my mom, she is around 45 pounds and a Staffy mix. My mom is very sweet and had an amazing personality, not sure what my dad was but I’m sure just based on the size of my paws now I’ll be a good-sized adult, too!

Stevie’s adoption fee is $300 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Cat of the Week: Sunny

Julia D Cat of the Week

Sunny is the petite princess kitty of the home. Struts her stuff but is so gentle. Sunny loves kids and cats of all ages. She loves having other cats around to snuggle with as she naps throughout the day. Loves playing with toys as she is still very much a kitten.

Sunny’s adoption fee is $100 which includes spay surgery, a microchip with lifetime registration, and being up to date on vaccinations.

Dog of the Week: Bobby

Julia D Dog of the Week

Hi! My name is Bobby. If you are looking for a sweet, playful and cuddly pup, here I am! I live with 6 other dogs right now and get along with all of them. I also get along with kids.  I like to play with toys and I am still learning how to walk with a leash.

My foster mom takes me in the backyard to play and I love to jump around. I am still getting used to my kennel. It isn’t my favorite but I’m getting better being in it. I’m working really hard on potty training! Just look at my face, I am so cute. As much as I like it here I am excited to find my forever home.

Bobby’s adoption fee is $300 which includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, a microchip with lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Cat of the Week: Allison

Julia D Cat of the Week

Allison here, I was an outside cat with my brother and sister until it got too cold for us. Now we are at Last Hope and definitely liking being inside way better. I would love to find my forever home. I love to curl up on a lap and take a nap.

I’m pretty shy and loud noises scare me but I’m as sweet as can be! I don’t really have a lot to say so you can do most of the talking. I won’t tell any of your secrets, I promise. I don’t mind people or animals, but barking dogs scare me. Once I get to know you better I bring out the silly side.

Allison’s adoption fee is $85.00 which includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations, and a microchip with lifetime registration.

Happy Tail: Sophie

Julia D Happy Tails

Ron and Beth were looking to add a puppy to their family but when they saw the picture of two-year-old Sophie, they were smitten. After a very successful visit in a dog park between their existing dog and Sophie they decided to take the plunge and add Sophie to their family of two cats, Jax and Buck, and their dog, Maizy.

When Sophie came home with them, there was a learning curve at first. Sophie had been almost starved to death previous to Last Hope saving her so she was an active counter surfer, always looking for food. The family quickly learned to keep food off the counters where she could reach it and did some training with Sophie to keep her from getting on the table and eating cat food.

They call her their little hippie girl because Sophie is so laid-back and easy going. She’s not much for toys or typical playing that dogs do, but she does love to chew on bones. She enjoys short running bursts at the dog park and then resting in the shade. Sophie also likes lap time and cuddling. And she’s a bed hog!

We are so happy for Sophie to have found such a wonderful forever home with Ron and Beth and their other furkids. And that she now has a soft bed to hog!

Happy Tail: Emil

Julia D Happy Tails

Carmen and Tyson had lost their beloved cat, Siam. After months of grieving, they went to PetSmart to see the cats available for adoption from Last Hope just to see if they felt ready to open their hearts to a new furbaby. They were impressed by the setup and the interactions with the cats so they went home and filled out an application on our website.

They had a tough decision but settled on Emil because he was a little more docile and would mesh well with their older cat at home, Sobe. The adjustment period lasted about a week during which they kept Emil and Sobe separated but able to see and smell each other. They took it slow, which is the right approach when introducing a new pet to an existing one in the home. Carmen said the slow start paid off because there has never been any aggression between the two cats.

They like Emil’s sweet personality and joyful curiosity with everyone, even strangers. He never holds back his affection. Emil loves afternoon cat naps on his cat tree and has the cutest little “cat snore” while he naps. They have a screened in porch which is perfect for bird and squirrel watching. They report he’s a fantastic mouser as he proudly carries around his toy “prey” after skillfully hunting them down! When given catnip Emil rolls around on his back which encourages Sobe to jump in and it’s the beginning of a good wrestling match between the two. And Emil is no dummy; he likes to follow Carmen into the laundry room in hopes of getting to lay in warm clothes fresh out of the dryer!

It sounds like Emil hit the jackpot with Carmen, Tyson, and Sobe and we’re so happy for him! Thank you for loving him and giving him his happily ever after.
