Dog of the Week: Paisley

Julia D Dog of the Week

Hey, I’m Paisley! I’m about 3 years old.  I’ve been DNA tested and I’m American Staffie, boxer, American Bulldog, Standard Bulldog, and bullmastiff. You’d be missing out if you pass on the chance to meet me. I’m a total sweetheart with a big personality! I’ve been living with other dogs for about a year, but I’ve decided that I’ll be so much happier as an only pup. I just like my own space and will thrive in a single pup household where I can be the center of attention. I adore my humans and have so much love to give. I currently have 2 cat siblings and we get along well. I would be happiest in a home with bigger children that know how to properly interact with dogs.

I’m still working on new tricks and I’m a smart girl. I can sit, lie down, and shake. I’m 100% potty trained. The word “outside” is one of my favorites!! I walk very well with my head collar and when you ask me if I want to go for a walk, I’ll be as happy as a clam! I need to find a house that will walk me daily because I have a lot of energy to burn off. I should mention that I’m not a fan of the dog park, I’m much more content in my own space or cruisin’ the local trails and parks on leash with you!  In my free time, I love to roam around my fenced in yard, chew on a durable bone or Kong, swim in my pool, and I love chasing a good old tennis ball. One of my favorite activities is lounging on the couch next to my people. I know how to give hugs on command, too! I would also love to go camping and hiking with you. Are you a runner? Because I’d be the perfect running companion. Oh, and did I mention that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE going for car rides!? They happen to be one of my favorite things in the world. I’ve driven several hours in the car and I’m a perfectly polite passenger.

I’m crate trained and I’m perfectly content being left in there while you’re out of the house. I usually sleep in my crate at night but I’ve been known to bribe my way into the human bed. Fair warning – I’m a bed hog! I am a bit of a picky eater, so I currently take a probiotic with my meals, and I love topping off my food with treats. ☺ If you’re interested in meeting me, don’t hesitate to fill out an application! I’m looking forward to beginning forever with you.

Paisley’s adoption fee is $250 and includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

Dog of the Week: Otis

Julia D Dog of the Week

Are you looking for a fun and high octane type dog? A dog that likes to swim, play fetch for hours, run, play, is great with dogs and humans of all ages? Then Otis is your guy! Otis’ foster family hasn’t found much this pup doesn’t like. He absolutely loves going swimming in the dog pool and his favorite thing to do is play fetch. He would play all day if you could keep up with him. He loves all toys, especially tennis balls! He’s good with other dogs, cats are debatable. If you have a cat that likes to play then he’d be okay, but he is not a fit with a cat that wants to be left alone as he can be relentless. Otis loves going on car rides and hanging his little head out the window.

He does have a ton of energy, so needs someone committed to consistently burning that off! Otis is kennel trained, he does great at not having accidents in his kennel however he does occasionally have accidents inside. We have worked with our vet partners to rule out any underlying medical issues, so Otis will need a patient owner who can get him on a routine for consistent potty breaks and positive reinforcement training. A fenced-in yard will be great for Otis! Otis can be a little wary of strangers, but he will warm up quickly especially if you play a game of fetch with him!

Otis’ adoption fee is $250 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

If Otis sounds like the guy for you, please complete an adoption application HERE.

Cat of the Week: June

Julia D Cat of the Week

June came to Last Hope as quite a mystery. She presented with an unknown illness that caused a head tilt and loss of coordination and balance. We worked with our team of vets and came up with a treatment plan that made sense and soon started to see results. We still don’t know the exact cause of her mysterious illness and she still has just a little bit of a head tilt. But outside of that, you would never know that something was wrong with her.

She’s a sweet girl once she gets to know you. She’s very food motivated and that’s the way to her heart for sure! She loves to rub up against your legs and ask for attention.  She has been in a foster home with dogs and other cats and does well with both. She does get a little nervous sometimes if someone startles her and will give a little hiss to let them know they’re too close. But as long as she has her space she’s ok sharing a home.

June’s adoption fee is $85 and includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.

Volunteer of the Month: Tim Lewis

Julia D Volunteer of the Month

Gypsy

Tim has been a dedicated volunteer for about three years and he says one thing he likes about it is meeting other animal lovers. “I’m amazed at how much some people give of themselves for this organization and its animals. It’s really cool to see.”

Ace and Sally

Primarily focusing on foster dogs, Tim has also done random tasks over the years. He doesn’t have kids or pets of his own so he’s able to provide a quiet, loving environment for the dogs he fosters.

Being a foster-based organization, of course the people who foster for us are incredibly important. Tim has been dependable and dog-savvy and has helped many dogs find their forever homes. We are thankful that he decided to volunteer with us!

Dog of the Week: Mila

Julia D Dog of the Week

Mila and her brother, Mondo, joined Last Hope recently and they are each ready for a forever home of their very own! Mila is a young female black mouth cur mix, she is around 6 months old and near 40 pounds.  Mila does well with other dogs and has started to learn some basic commands.  She can be possessive of people, as she bonds quickly, so she needs an experienced dog owner to continue to teach her good manners and socialize her well. She will thrive in an active home with another friendly medium-sized dog.   Mila has not met cats and should be in a home with kids aged 12+.

Mila’s adoption fee is $300 and includes spay surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, a microchip with free lifetime registration, and a free obedience class.

If pretty Mila looks like the girl for you, please complete an adoption application HERE.

Happy Tail: Louie Bubbles (formerly Austin)

Julia D Happy Tails

When Craig, Heather, Cole, and Cora went to pick out a puppy from a litter at Last Hope, they had a certain puppy in mind based on pictures. But when they got there, Louie Bubbles (formerly Austin) changed their plans. He curled up in their arms and stayed there during the entire adoption event and they knew he had picked them.

So they took Louie Bubbles home and the transition was easy; they just had to adjust to having a puppy in the house. He is smart and was housebroken and kennel trained in no time. He enjoys chew toys, playing ball, chasing squirrels, and playing with his fursister named Lyla. But his favorite thing to do is cuddle with the family!

The family is loving having Louie Bubbles in the house and he loves them just as much. We wish you a long and happy life, Louie Bubbles!

Cat of the Week: Sky

Julia D Cat of the Week

Sky is a sweet boy that decided he didn’t want to live the farm life anymore. He loves a good toy to play with, balls, mice, or catnip toys – Sky loves them all. He would love to snuggle up with someone and watch movies with. He is great with other cats and we think with proper introduction dogs might be ok too.

Sky’s adoption fee is $85 and includes neuter surgery, being up to date on vaccinations and preventives, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.

If you would like to have a little Sky in your life, please complete an adoption application HERE.
